Engineering section in NHM is mainly contributing to provide the basic infrastructure facilities by constructing new/ renovation/ reconstruction of various hospitals in all districts of Kerala. The construction activities include the work of different types of hospitals like Medical Colleges, Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Women and Child Hospital, District hospitals, Taluk hospital, CHC, PHC, Sub centres, Training Institute etc. In addition to this, Engineering section is also deals with Strengthening of labour room as per LaQshya Standards, Setting up of Sewage Treatment Plant, Dialysis Unit, Microbiology Lab, SNCU, NBSU, DEIC at various points, Flood restoration works at various hospitals, Construction works at AYUSH institutions etc.

As part of the Nava Kerala Mission Government has launched Aardram Mission in health sector aimed to provide patient friendly and quality care services to the outpatient wing of Medical Colleges, District Hospitals, Taluk Hospitals, Community Health Centres and Primary Health centres. The implementation of the Aardram mission is being executed through Engineering wing of NHM.
